Each of us brings unique skills to the table—from system design and engineering to sales, logistics, and hands-on installation. What we all have in common is a commitment to quality, reliability, and helping our clients move toward energy independence with confidence. Here’s who we are.
Jaap is one of the founding members of Bergsolar and wears many hats in the business—leading sales, managing logistics, and rolling up his sleeves at installations. Originally from the Netherlands, Jaap made South Africa his home in 2007. He’s known for his no-nonsense, hands-on approach and his commitment to getting the job done right. Whether he’s closing a deal or climbing up a roof, Jaap brings energy, reliability, and a deep belief in practical, sustainable solutions. He’s not just part of the team—he’s in the thick of it, every day.
Ngcebo Mkhize is an electrical engineer at Bergsolar who started with the company as a trainee and quickly proved himself through skill, dedication, and solid work ethic. His attention to detail and commitment to quality have made him a key part of the team. Ngcebo takes pride in doing things right the first time, and his workmanship reflects that. Reliable and focused, he brings both technical expertise and a strong sense of responsibility to every project he’s involved in.
Martijn Verbeek is one of the founding members of Bergsolar and the go-to expert when it comes to designing and integrating smart, reliable Victron Energy solar systems. Originally from the Netherlands, he moved to South Africa in 2006, driven by a passion for renewable energy, self-sufficiency, and eco-friendly building.
With a background in IT and telecommunications, Martijn naturally gravitated toward the technical side of solar, becoming Victron-certified and specialising in system integration. He’s hands-on, detail-oriented, and always looking for ways to make systems work better and smarter. For Martijn, it’s not just about power—it’s about independence, sustainability, and building a future that works.
